THE VAMBO STORY…

Conceived by Ashleigh May, an Honours Drama graduate of Rhodes University,  Vambo Entertainment is a entertainment company with actor training for adults at it’s heart.

1 FOR BLOG

With over a decade worth of experience working as a Performer, Director, Drama Teacher and Corporate Entertainment Writer in the UAE, UK, Australia and Southern Africa, Ashleigh May started Vambo Entertainment in a bid to develop high quality entertainment in the UAE and launched the production branch of the company with ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ by Edward Albee.

The company took off so Ashleigh developed a series of  Actor Training programs to build up an ensemble who went on to perform in Vambo’s tailor-made corporate and private Murder Mysteries for a wide client base and the monthly made-to-match-the-menu Murder Mystery she wrote for Fraiche Restaurant  as well as the company’s hugely successful productions of ‘Vital Signs’ by Jane Martin and ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ by Shakespeare.

Ashleigh left Dubai at the end of 2016 to settle, for good, in Lincoln, UK with the express intention of restarting the company and building up a new ensemble to perform in Vambo’s summer outdoor theatre productions and murder mysteries. The training arm of the company launched in September 2018 and our first two cohorts of LAMDA students all received Distinctions for their Acting exams! In summer 2019 we launched our first UK Murder Mystery, Gin and Toxic, and in October 2019 our Anti Panto, ‘The Queen of Tarts’ is set to hit the stage!

Our plans for 2020…two outdoor Shakespeare plays in the summer, a new Murder Mystery and, of course, a new Anti Panto to round up the year. We’re also starting up an Improv Troupe so, if you’d like to see your name in lights, get in touch about LAMDA actor training or to find out about improvising with us and join the team!
